I learned to sing from two knowledgable and dynamic voice teachers. My mother, Pearl Layton, was a Boston opera singer and a well loved voice teacher on the South Shore. She maintained a studio for many years at her home in Norwell. Her mentor, Herbert Mayer, was a respected New York voice teacher, who taught an extraordiary singing method which he aquired during his early years of music and vocal work in Germany. I was fortunate to have the opportunity to work intensively with him toward the end of his career.
Together, they taught me a method of voice building which has become the foundation for my own way of singing and teaching . Over the years I have developed a real passion for passing this knowledge on to others. My studio is a safe and supportive space where students have the freedom to explore all of their vocal possibilities. I have had success with singers in all styles of music, from opera, musical theatre to pop and rock.
